MS CAROLINE BURT MBBS, FRCS, MD
Ms Caroline Burt qualified from United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’s Hospitals, London, and undertook surgical training in the South West of England, and a fellowship in colorectal surgery in Toronto, Canada.
Her main areas of practice are colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and diverticular disease. She carries out minimally invasive bowel resections both laparoscopically or robotically. She also treats benign anorectal problems such as haemorrhoids and anal fissures. She understands how these common problems can very disruptive to day-to-day life and how embarrassment can hold people back from seeking help. to She is accredited to carry out colonoscopies in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme, and is experienced in therapeutic colonoscopy to remove polyps.
In addition to surgical practice Ms Burt has a BSc in psychology and is involved in medical education. She completed postgraduate research into surgical training and assessment of competency, and after a number of roles in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, has been appointed as Director of Medical Education at North Bristol NHS Trust.
She has a busy practice at North Bristol Trust where she was appointed as a consultant colorectal surgeon in 2008, and is part of a team of 8 colorectal consultants.

Ms Burt’s family occupy most of her time outside work, but she still fits in the occasional triathlon when she can!

Ms Burt saved my life after a life threatening op last year.This was the first contact I had since my op & it was a honour to talk to her. I dont think many surgeons take the time to do this?
